Local Music Opportunities

George Washington University Summer Piano and Chamber Music Institute

From August 3-7th, George Washington University’s Department of Music will be hosting their Summer Piano and Chamber Music Institute for Middle, High School and University strings and piano students.  Participants will give performances, as well as take private lessons with resident faculty and participate in enrichment classes focused on sight-reading and music history.

Unique among musical programs in the Washington, D.C. area, the Institute places its students in ensembles in which resident faculty both coach, and rehearse and perform side by side with the students! This year’s resident faculty include current Juilliard Graduate Resident String Quartet, The Aeolus Quartet (www.aeolusquartet.com) and Lithuanian pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute (www.ievajokubaviciute.com) among others.  Please check out the video from last year’s students performing with our amazing faculty on the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage: http://www.kennedy-center.org/explorer/videos/?id=M5919&type=A

Tuition for the week is $650.  Please visit our website for more details and application information: https://music.columbian.gwu.edu/summer-piano-chamber-music-institute
